Bio

George Kay is the definition of a trailblazer. He’s a visionary, and an unsung hero of the music world whose fingerprints can be found across some of pop's biggest songs. Though he’s never been the focus of fame's spotlight, his work has been heard by millions thanks to his work as a composer and songwriter.

A lifelong fan of music, Kay grew up in Canberra, beginning his own journey in his late teens, with his talents first being encouraged after his partner would record his work secretly. Realising the skills that he possessed, the songs that flowed forth were soon sent to artists and producers who all agreed that Kay was indeed a singular talent.

Sharing albums worth of material with industry tastemakers, Kay’s songs found their way out into the world, soon being recorded by some of the biggest names in local and international music, including Robbie Williams, Nickelback, Maxwell and Nelly Furtado, and even Australian greats such as Birds Of Tokyo and Gotye.

Though most musicians could consider this sort of success to be the peak of their careers, Kay was far from done with music. His songwriting, compositional, and performance skills continued to grow, going so far as to write and perform with the great Prince at his Paisley Park home.

Passing up a chance to perform with the Purple One as his touring guitarist, Kay adopted pseudonyms to share his own music, but never put himself as the focus, instead letting his work speak for itself. With apprehension surrounding the idea of branching out as a solo artist, Kay took his leave from the world of music soon after, instead going on to focusing instead on self-care and other areas of life.
Now, George Kay is back in the world of music, better, stronger, and more powerful than ever. After years as an unsung hero whose name was left off the record, Kay is ready to put himself in the spotlight, asserting himself as a career creative who is dedicated to sharing his myriad talents with the world.

“What I did over the years was prolific, and I’m back to do it all again; I’m serious about doing that again,” George says. “Music can be a real healing tool, and it has the potential to change the world, and to elicit positive messages.

“If people can relate and connect with my music, then my job's done. I just want people to connect with these stories and sounds that I have to offer.”

Preparing to launch his own long-awaited career as a solo artist, Kay is eager to draw upon his decades of experience and prowess to prove that he’s a powerful artist with something to say, a message to share, and an innate ability to speak truths through music.

This time, he’ll be front and centre, composing and authoring his own story. For years, the world has known what he’s capable of, but now, the world is ready to hear what George Kay has to offer.
